Pilates is a body conditioning routine that helps build flexibility and long, lean muscles, strength and endurance in the legs, abdominals, arms, hips, and back. It puts emphasis on spinal and pelvic alignment, breathing to relieve stress and allow adequate oxygen flow to muscles, developing a strong core or center (tones abdominals while strengthening the back), and improving coordination and balance. Pilates’ flexible system allows for different exercises to be modified in range of difficulty from beginning to advanced. Intensity can be increased over time as the body conditions and adapts to the exercises. No muscle group is under or over trained. It enhances core strength and brings increased reach, flexibility, sure-footedness and agility.

Yoga

Yoga is a commonly known generic term for physical, mental, and spiritual disciplines which originated in ancient India. Hindu monks, beginning with Swami Vivekananda, brought yoga to the Western world in the late 19th century. In the 1980s, yoga became popular as physical system of health exercises in the USA. Many studies have tried to determine the effectiveness of yoga as a complementary intervention for cancer, schizophrenia, asthma and heart patients. In a national survey, long-term yoga practitioners in in the United States reported musculo–skeletal and mental health improvements.

Restorative Yoga:  Restorative Yoga is for everyone, no matter your age or fitness level.  Restorative Yoga gently opens the body and breath while balancing the nervous system.  Whether you’re a beginner, have health and mobility issues or in the mood for a relaxing class, you will find this class to be deeply restorative using the support of props to facilitate deep muscular and emotional release.  Restorative Yoga relieves stress and takes you to a quiet place.

Circuit Training

About Mind & Body | Circuit TrainingOur Circuit Training classes take place several times throughout every week. Circuit training is a form of body conditioning training resistance training and high-intensity aerobics. It is designed to be easy to follow and target strength building as well as muscular endurance. An exercise “circuit” is one completion of all prescribed exercises in the program. When one circuit is complete, one begins the first exercise again for another circuit. Traditionally, the time between exercises in circuit training is short, often with rapid movement to the next exercise.
